NEW PARIS — The bridge that rests over the Swoveland Ditch is scheduled to undergo some work in the fall.

During their Monday, Aug. 14 meeting, the Elkhart County Commissioners approved the bid of quotes to replace the deck of Bridge 310. Bridge 310 is located on CR 21 north of CR 142, west of New Paris.

The 39-year-old bridge is “soft” and “failing.” With the repairs, the bridge could survive another two decades.

The renovations are estimated to cost around $100,000 and will take about a month to complete.
