Whitko Announces September Students Of The Month

SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko Community Schools has announced its Students of the Month for September.
Chase Bays — Whitko’s Senior High student of the month is Chase Bays. Bays, a senior, is a role model who is positive and supportive to staff and peers, said nominating teachers Michael Howard and Wayne Swender.
Lewis Skinner — Whitko Junior High student of the month is Lewis Skinner.
Teacher Teresa Knepple nominated the seventh-grader. “Lewis is a kindhearted, disciplined young man,” Knepple said. “His leadership is strong. He strives to do his best and pushes others around him to succeed as well. He is active in the community and football while keeping up with his studies. Lewis is also assigned as a class leader in his social studies class. He helps the teacher prepare the class for the lesson that day by handing out any class material before class starts. Furthermore, he assists the teacher with any lesson modeling for other students to gain a better perspective of the requirements.”
Crew Ebbinghouse — Whitko Career Academy student of the month is freshman Crew Ebbinghouse. Ebbinghouse was nominated by Career Academy agriculture instructor Ken Johns. “Crew Ebbinghouse is being nominated for his leadership skills shown in class on a daily basis. The freshman helped the morning landscaping class with a paver project and Crew’s willingness to jump right in and take charge was evident,” Johns said. “I appreciate his positive attitude in class and his encouragement of fellow classmates with assignments and projects. Crew is off to a fantastic start in agriculture, and I look forward to working with him throughout the year.”
Olivia Walter — South Whitley Elementary School’s student of the month is fourth-grader Olivia Walter.
“Olivia is a star student and is incredibly bright and creative,” said office staff nominators Cindy Hatton and Erin Collier. “She uses her kind heart to help her classmates and always tries to make the people around her feel valued. Olivia is responsible, polite, helpful and trustworthy. Once you get to know her, her sweet personality really shines through. Keep up the great work, Olivia.”
Ryder Cloud — Pierceton Elementary School’s student of the month is Ryder Cloud.
“Ryder has been nominated for student of the month because of his hard work, kindness toward others and overall positive attitude. Ryder walks into class every day and gives me a warm smile and a chipper ‘Good morning,’” said nominating teacher Claire Frame of her student. “With being new to school as a kindergartner, Ryder has taken to the routine of daily activities very well. He is always following directions and staying on task. He also has many friends in our class and is always willing to lend a helping hand. Ryder is a student I can count on, and as his teacher I cannot wait to watch him grow this year.”
