Yoder Arrested After Officers Find Drugs During Traffic Stop

SYRACUSE — A Nappanee woman was recently arrested after officers found drugs during a traffic stop.
Charity L. Yoder, 46, 151 Metzler Ave., Nappanee, is charged with possession of a narcotic drug and possession of methamphetamine, both level 6 felonies; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor; possession of a narcotic drug with enhancing circumstances and possession of methamphetamine with enhancing circumstances, both level 5 felonies; and possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction, a class A misdemeanor.
On Aug. 30, a Syracuse Police officer noticed a vehicle fail to yield the right-of-way and pulled its driver over. The driver was a child who did not have a valid driver’s permit or license. Yoder, who was a passenger in the vehicle, said the child was driving to obtain their permit.
According to court documents, the officer smelled marijuana in the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and a substance which tested positive for meth and fentanyl.
Yoder has prior convictions for dealing meth and possessing paraphernalia in Elkhart County.
Yoder has been arrested and released on bond. She has an initial hearing at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28.
