Serious Crash At US 31 And SR 110
News Release
FULTON COUNTY — Darci Zolman, 67, Pierceton, was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash at US 31 and SR 110 in Fulton County. Zolman was flown from the scene by Parkview Samaritan to a trauma center. Her condition is unknown.
The crash was reported at 2:52 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 12.
Emergency personnel from both Fulton and Marshall counties were called to the scene.
Preliminary investigation by Senior Deputy Matt Craig revealed a 2017 Toyota Rav 4, driven by Zolman, was traveling east on SR 110, crossing northbound US 31. Zolman pulled into the path of a northbound 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Stephen Bontrager, 67, Shipshewana and was struck. Bontrager was taken to Woodlawn Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, which police believe contributed to the survivability of the crash.
Northbound US 31 was closed at SR 110 for approximately 2 1/2 hours.
The crash remains under investigation.
Assisting the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were multiple emergency responders from both Fulton and Marshall counties.
