North Webster Community Public Library — Create A Viewer To Observe Solar Eclipse

NORTH WEBSTER — The following activities are set to take place at North Webster Community Public Library. Attendees do not need to have a library card to participate in any of these events.
Adult Events
NWCPL is hosting A Matter of Balance at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2. Purdue Extension Educator Shannon Shepherd will be teaching this class that aims to help older adults learn techniques to manage falls. This event has been so popular that registration is now open for the January session of this program. Call the library to express your interest in this useful learning opportunity.
The solar eclipse is fast approaching and if you want to safely view this phenomenon, consider attending the class titled “Make a Recycled Pinhole Viewer.” During this event they will be using recycled materials to create a viewer to safely observe the shadows created by the solar eclipse. The class will be held at 5:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2. Attendees will also receive a free pair of solar eclipse viewing glasses. Advance registration is requested.
Roots & Branches genealogy club will be meeting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4. This month they will be sharing tips to build family trees plus learning about the genealogical proof standard and how to apply it in order to trace ancestors accurately.
Get Fit While You Sit chair exercise classes are back this week. Join in at 10:30 a.m. or 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5. Open to all ages and fitness levels, Get Fit While You Sit is a great way to ease into exercising. These exercise classes are identical and are free and open to the public.
Let’s Move Dance Class will be meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5. Join in for a fun time of dancing to dance videos, learning new dance steps and getting a great workout. Class is free and suitable for adults of all ages and fitness.
Beginner Tech: Windows Computers class will be held at 10:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6. Come learn how to use a Windows based computer; register in advance.
NWCPL is hosting an evening movie series during the month of October called Friday Night Fright Features and this week’s featured movie is “Little Shop of Horrors,” rated PG-13. Join in at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, for this after-hours scary movie.
Teen Events
Unwind and make new friends at Teen Cafe, the ultimate Monday hangout spot at the library. Join in after school at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, for video games like MarioKart, Roblox and Minecraft, board games and a delectable array of snacks, drinks and coffee.
NWCPL will be hosting a Teen Book Club & Movie Night at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4. Come discuss “Perks of Being a Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky and watch the movie.
Youth Events
Baby and Toddler Time is back for the school year and will be held at both 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3. Join Miss Cathy for songs, stories and fingerplays geared toward children ages birth through 36 months. Class lasts approximately 20 minutes followed by a time of intentional play and parent networking. Registration is requested, but visitors are always welcome.
Preschool Story Time will be held at both 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27. Join Mrs. Pam to sing songs, read books, share fingerplays and learn through fun literacy activities and crafts. This program is geared toward children ages 3-6, but all family members are invited. Registration is requested, but visitors are always welcome.
