Bristol’s Brinco Temporarily Lays Off 100 Workers
Staff Report
BRISTOL — Steel castings manufacturer Brinco has reportedly temporarily laid off about 100 employees.
Brinco said the layoff should be for “less than six months,” according to an Aug. 28 letter the company sent to the state in compliance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
The letter said the affected workers, 43 permanent employees and 58 temporary workers, had been notified.
The company wrote that the “layoff is due to a very recent customer reduction in demand for our products” that was the result of a worker strike.
Brinco manufactures steel cast parts for the North American railroad industry.
