Syracuse Public Library — Still Time To Complete TeenTober Punch Card
News Release
SYRACUSE — TeenTober draws to a close at the Syracuse Public Library during the last week of October. Teens are encouraged to continue filling in their punch cards with library visits and by attending at least one program. Teens with completed punch cards will be entered into a drawing for a giant bag of sour candy.
During the week, teens have four programs left that they can use to fill their punch cards. They can sign up to make do-it-yourself pins from 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the Rosalyn Jones Room. Space is limited for this program, so register upstairs at the library or on the library’s online calendar at tinyurl.com/SPLDIYPins. Don’t forget to include what theme you’d like for your pins.
The teen advisory board will meet from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, in the Rosalyn Jones Room. Teens who join the board will help shape future teen programs and activities. The anime club will meet from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, in the Rosalyn Jones Room. This month attendees will be challenged to guess which opening goes with what anime. The winner with the most correct answers will win a bag of candy.
The young adult writing club will meet from 4-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, in the Rosalyn Jones Room. During the meeting, members will have 20 minutes to craft their own skin-crawling PG-rated tales to share ahead of Halloween. While working, they can enjoy snacks.
Children’s Programming
Children in grades kindergarten through fifth will participate in various dance games during Move and Groove Club at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, in the downstairs meeting room. Participants are encouraged to bring water bottles.
The home-school class will focus on apples when it meets at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the downstairs meeting room. This session will be with younger students in grades first through third.
Preschool-aged children can join story time at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25. Story time introduces children to fun picture books, the alphabet, American Sign Language and Spanish. Each session usually features a fun craft, too.
Adult Programs
Bring your fiber arts projects to the library at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24. The knitting and crocheting club meets in the upstairs sitting area, with members working on their projects and chatting. Beginners and advanced knitters and crocheters are welcome to join the group.
The adult book club will meet to discuss “Into Thin Air” by Jon Krakauer Thursday, Oct. 26. The in-person discussion will be at 1 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room, while the Zoom discussion will occur at 6 p.m. Email Emilia Layne at [email protected] for information or a Zoom invitation.
