Carol Trump — UPDATED
Carol Trump, age 69, of Oswego, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital. She was born on Sept. 22, 1954, in Columbia City, to Robert and Norma Conley. She married William “Bill” Trump on Oct. 14, 1972.
Graduating from Whitko High School in 1972, Carol embarked on a successful career at Reneker’s Sports Shop since 1994. Working alongside the Reneker family she supported the business as a bookkeeper and helped with silk screening. She got to know many community members and student athletes while in this role.
Carol’s love for sports extended beyond her professional life. She was an avid supporter of the Warsaw Tigers and a dedicated fan of the Leesburg Summer Recreational League. Whether it was watching a game or actively participating as a bowler herself, she found immense joy in being part of these sporting communities.
Carol enjoyed many hobbies and interests that brought joy and fulfillment to her life. She had an undeniable passion for Christmas and cherished the holiday season like no other. Her home was adorned with enchanting Christmas house villages that always brought smiles to the faces of those who visited. Additionally, Carol amassed a remarkable collection of giraffe statues that showcased her unique taste.
One activity that held a special place in Carol’s heart was shopping alongside her sister-in-law at Shipshewana. The bond between these two was unbreakable, and their shopping excursions created lasting memories that will be treasured forever.
When she was able to get away, she enjoyed traveling with her husband. She cherished every moment spent with loved ones during family camping trips and immersed herself fully into the joys of nature around her. She also found solace in watching Hallmark movies and getting inspired by HGTV’s home improvement shows. Her favorite team, the Cubs, held a special place in her heart, and she enjoyed watching every baseball game with true enthusiasm.
Carol’s sudden departure has left a void in the lives of those who loved her. Her warm presence, infectious laughter and compassionate nature will be immensely missed. She leaves behind cherished memories for her family and friends to hold dear. She is survived by her husband, Bill Trump, of Oswego; their children, Matt (Holly) Trump, of Warsaw, and Megan (Travis) Reneker, of Pierceton; and grandchildren, Ryne, Wyatt, Zack and Jordan. Also surviving is her brother, Mike (Diane) Conley, of Warsaw, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Conley and Norma Conley-Brown; sister, Lisa and Mark Long; nephews and nieces, Seth Conley, Mason and Haley Long; and sister-in-law, Jean Trump.
Visitation to honor Carol’s life will be held from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2000 Sheridan St., Warsaw. Starting at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, a Life Celebration will take place at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, 1483 N. 575E, Pierceton. Carol will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton.
