Three Wabash County Agencies Awarded $1.6 Million In Community Crossing Funds
News Release
INDIANA — Three Wabash County government agencies; North Manchester, Wabash County and Wabash; were awarded $1.6 million in Community Crossing funds.
Governor Eric J. Holcomb and the Indiana Department of Transportation gathered Friday, Nov. 3 at the Eagles Theatre with cities, towns, and counties from across northeast Indiana receiving portions of the $91.5 million awarded through the Community Crossings matching grant program, a component of Governor Holcomb’s Next Level Roads program.
Communities submitted applications for funding during a highly competitive call for projects in July. Funding for Community Crossings comes from the state’s local road and bridge matching grant fund. The Community Crossings initiative has provided nearly $1.5 billion in state matching funds for local road improvement projects since 2016.
North Manchester was awarded $510,674.99. The funds will go toward funding street resurfacing, sidewalk repairs and installing ADA compliant sidewalk ramps. North Manchester will bid the project out in February 2024 and expects construction to follow in summer 2024. Wabash County was awarded $868,501.98 and Wabash was awarded $236,379.74.
A list of all 188 communities receiving matching funds in the 2023 fall call for projects is available on INDOT’s website, here. The next call for projects will open in January.
