SYRACUSE — Two Warsaw women are facing charges for allegedly burglarizing storage units in Syracuse.

Joanne Argentina Gomez, 38, 3699 N. 175E Lot 146, Warsaw; and Kimberly Ann Gomez, 37, 3699 N. 175E Lot 23, Warsaw, are each charged with burglary, a level 5 felony; and theft, a level 6 felony.

Around 5:30 p.m. Oct. 29, 2022, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a man about two women stealing items from local storage units in Syracuse.

According to court documents, the man said he went to retrieve items when he saw Joanne and Kimberly removing items from two of his storage units and placing them in a vehicle.

While at the scene, Kimberly told KCSO deputies a family friend asked her for help in retrieving items from his storage unit. Both Joanne and Kimberly said they spoke with the friend before they arrived at the storage units. They also said the units they entered were already open prior to their arrival.

Deputies searched the Gomez residence but did not locate any of the missing property.

On Nov. 2, 2022, a KCSO deputy received an email from the man. The email listed items taken from the storage units, totaling $10,291. A variety of tools were stolen. Surveillance footage from the storage units showed Joanne and Kimberly entering the storage facility three hours prior to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 29, 2022. This earlier trip was never disclosed to law enforcement.

Joanne was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 4, 2023, with a $15,250 surety and cash bond. A warrant was issued for Kimberly’s arrest on Aug. 15, 2023.
