Avanell I. Borders — UPDATED
Avanell I. Borders, 83, of Pierceton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023. Her last days were spent in hospice care and surrounded by family whom she loved and she was loved by dearly.
Avanell (“Ava”) was born on April 24, 1940, in Charlottesville, Ind. She was the daughter of Carl and Virginia (Butcher) Borders. Her family eventually settled in Warsaw, where she attended school, graduating from Warsaw High School in 1958.
The following summer she married Floyd “Jim” Borders. On Dec. 21, 1959, she gave birth to their only child, James.
Besides being a homemaker, wife and mother, she worked outside the home for many years at the Bluebell factory, R.R. Donnelley & Sons, cleaning houses and Chematics, before retiring. Her hobbies included quilting, knitting, macrame, golf and square dancing. For many years she attended West Etna Community Church.
Ava is survived by her son, James, and his wife, Vicky; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She will be reunited in heaven with her parents, Carl and Virginia; husband, Floyd; as well as one brother; two sisters; and a granddaughter.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 18, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 105 S. First St., Pierceton. Funeral services will immediately follow at noon in the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
