MILFORD — The Milford Redevelopment Commission meeting on Monday, Nov. 13, began with an update on the Eastfield housing development in TIF District 2. Alan Tio of Kosciusko County Economic Development Corporation informed the commission that lift station work is underway, two houses will be available for sale in December and a foundation for a third has been constructed.
In other business, a development project for a staging facility in the TIF Industrial District 3 is moving towards a close. According to commission member Dan Brown, the project involves the construction of an operations facility, including material storage and space for utility trucks. “It’s about $21 million investment in real improvements,” said Brown.
As per the annexation agreement that the town of Milford has with BRTB, the company is responsible for financing public infrastructure in the industrial district. BRTB will later be reimbursed out of TIF increment funds as they come in.
In order to help close the project, the town now needs to engage bond council and acquire a financial advisor to put everything legally into place.
The commission voted to enter an agreement with business law firm Barnes & Thornburg as bond council at a cost not to exceed $45,000. LWG were chosen as financial advisors at a cost not to exceed $36,000.
The commission also approved paying a $65,500 design fee to Commonwealth Engineers for a booster station that will service construction in the TIF district.
“I believe we’re positioned for this project to move forward,” said Brown. “BRTB is still attempting to complete negotiations and Alan (Tio) has been involved with that. We’re ready for whenever they close.”
