Metcalf Arrested For OWI, Driving Vehicle As Habitual Traffic Violator

WARSAW — An Elkhart man was recently arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and for driving a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator.
Braxton M. Metcalf, 34, 59112 CR 3, Elkhart, is charged with operating a vehicle with a specified amount of alcohol, a class C misdemeanor; operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator, a level 6 felony; and operating a vehicle while intoxicated – enhancement, a level 5 felony.
On Nov. 11, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy was patrolling in Warsaw when he saw Metcalf driving a vehicle. The deputy learned Metcalf had a license status of habitual traffic violator and pulled Metcalf over.
According to court documents, the deputy could smell alcohol upon pulling Metcalf over; however, Metcalf denied consuming any alcoholic beverages.
Metcalf failed several field sobriety tests and tested 0.081% BrAC on a portable breath test.
Metcalf was previously convicted of OWI resulting in serious bodily injury in Elkhart County in March 2014.
Metcalf was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 11.
