WARSAW — OrthoWorx and Warsaw Community Schools have struck a deal and are collaborating on a program that will give students the chance to prepare to hold a career in the orthopedic manufacturing industry. The program has been named RAMP, or Regional Advanced Manufacturing Pathway.

RAMP will provide students with hands-on experience and the opportunity to apply for internships during their senior year. The goal of RAMP is give students insight to working in orthopedics and give them a pipeline to a career.

Warsaw has been crowned the “Orthopedics Capital of the World” and the industry is always looking for educated machinists. The program is the brainchild of four orthopedic industry leaders: Zimmer Biomet, Instrumental Machine and Development, Medartis and PreMedTec.

RAMP will be available to a select group of juniors and seniors starting as early as the 2024-2025 school year. The industry will write and create the courses and WCS teachers will collaborate with the partners to create the lessons.

At the wrap of their junior year, program participants will interview with the companies to be placed into internships through their senior year. The prospective program participants will also go through an interview process to be accepted.

The inaugural year of the program will include around 20 students, with hopes to grow over the years.
