Nappanee Man Arrested For Spraining Officer’s Wrist, Neglecting Two Children
Staff Report
NAPPANEE — A Nappanee man was recently arrested for allegedly spraining a police officer’s wrist and neglecting two young children.
Thomas Arthur See, 36, 756 S. Clark St., Nappanee, is charged with battery resulting in bodily injury to a public safety officer, a level 5 felony; resisting law enforcement resulting in bodily injury and two counts of neglect of a dependent, all level 6 felonies; driving while suspended prior, a class A misdemeanor; and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.
On Nov. 23, a Nappanee Police officer noticed See driving a vehicle. The officer had prior knowledge about See having a suspended driver’s license and pulled See over.
According to court documents, a marijuana vape pen fell out of See’s vehicle. While being taken into custody, See became hostile and uncooperative, eventually dropping himself to the ground. He then attempted to pull the officer off-balance and used his legs to knock a second responding officer down. While being placed in a police vehicle, See hurled himself forward, causing one of the officer’s wrists to bend and sprain.
Upon searching See’s vehicle, officers found an additional vape pen and two young children. Neither child had a place to sit in the vehicle and were found seated near several bottles of urine and a bag of feces. They both appeared disheveled and not properly cared for. Officers alerted the Department of Child Services about the incident.
See was booked in the Elkhart County Correctional Complex on Nov. 23.
