WARSAW — The Kosciusko County Courthouse basement has been transformed to promote Christmas spirit.
The four offices within the Kosciusko County Courthouse who participate are the human resources office, the assessor’s office, the county administrator’s office and the surveyor’s office. Human Resources Director Cathy Reed spoke of how this extravagant display came to be. “It began with just decorating our doors with a theme, but has grown to what it is now over the last three years. In past years we have done Whoville and the Grinch, Polar Express and now this. It has been a really fun way to work together and create something to celebrate the season.”
Typically, they base the decorations off of one Christmas film; however, this Christmas season they decided to do four Rankin/Bass animated films. This year, the four offices decided to decorate the basement to the theme of Classic Christmas, with each hall dedicated to a different classic Rankin/Bass film including: “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, “A Year Without A Santa Claus” and “Frosty the Snowman.”
“The idea came about when someone in the surveyor’s office expressed her deep love for ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ and it kind of grew from there to include all of the classic Christmas movies we grew up with,” said Reed. “Once we come up with a theme, then we come together and divide up the work. Next year, we will probably go back to doing one film.”
