News Release
NORTH WEBSTER — Looking for some things to do during Christmas break? Look no further than the North Webster Community Public Library. There are many activities planned at the library during the week before and even several weeks after Dec. 25.
Youth activities include pony sleigh rides with Mrs. Claus from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16; cookie decorating at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22; George and the Dragon Puppet Show by ROZ Puppets at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27; family movie time with the “Penguins of Madagascar” at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28; and an interactive movie experience with Disney’s “Frozen” at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29. Plus, the annual Stuffed Animal Sleep-Away Camp is scheduled for the first week in January, so be sure to drop your stuffies off by Friday, Jan. 5. Stuffed animal pick-up will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6.
Teens are invited to participate in a special Nightmare Before Christmas Escape Room game on Monday, Dec. 18, during Teen Café. More escape room times for the whole family will be available to reserve on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Call the library to register for one of Tuesday’s time slots. Teens also can decorate Christmas cookies at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22.
Weekly Library Events
The following activities are set to take place at North Webster Community Public Library. Attendees do not need to have a library card to participate in any of these events.
Adult Events
Cookbook Club will be making Christmas cookies at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12. Come prepared to enjoy some delicious holiday cheer by baking and decorating traditional cut-out cookies. Register in advance so they can prepare supplies. Class is free and open to the public.
The adult craft class will be creating “ugly” Christmas sweaters at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12. Bring your own sweater, sweatshirt, T-shirt or other item to decorate and the library will provide all the supplies to make them ugly. Class is free and open to the public, but please register in advance.
Get Fit While You Sit chair exercise class, 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14. Perfect for participants of all ages and fitness levels. Class is free, no registration required.
Teen Events
Teen Café, 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11. Come hang out with friends, enjoy snacks and play video games and board games.
Teen Wellness Circle, 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12. Connect with other teens and enjoy meaningful conversations about mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health.
Teen Writers’ Corner, 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13. Whether teens write poetry, short stories or even fan fiction, all writers are welcome to come learn new skills and share their work.
Youth Events
Baby toddler story time, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12. Join Miss Cathy for songs, stories and intentional play.
Free pony sleigh rides will be happening at the library with Mrs. Claus from 9-11 am on Saturday, Dec. 16. After you have breakfast with Santa at the community center, come next door to the library for pony sleigh rides.
