Donald D. Drudge — UPDATED
Donald D. Drudge, 85, passed away Wednesday evening Dec. 13, 2023, at Addison Pointe Health and Rehabilitation in Chesterton.
Donald was born in Wheatfield on Sept. 6, 1938, to Eugene Ross and Florence Benita (Robinette) Drudge. He graduated from Pierceton High School with the Class of 1937.
Don served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1962. He also served in the Air Force Reserves as a sergeant and a vehicle dispatcher.
In Clintwood, Va., Don married Barbara I. Earl on Oct. 3, 1960. The couple would make the Warsaw area their home and share 53 years of love, laughs and memories before her passing in 2013.
Don enjoyed being a truck driver working for Dickerhoff Trucking, Metzger Trucking, Maple Leaf Farms and lastly for Tom Farms.
Don is survived by his daughter, Deborah (Patrick) Shay, of Michigan City; his three grandchildren, Kara Montel, Kayla Pier (Trent Butcher) and Ryan (Mary) Shelton; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Janice (Steve) Rodgers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barb; and sister; Sandra Bucher.
Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Christopher Lee Williams officiating. A burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with military honors.
