WARSAW — Beginning in 2024, the Kosciusko County Recycling Depot will have new hours of operation.
The depot will be open from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 7-11 a.m. Fridays; and 8 a.m. to noon on select Saturdays. It will continue to stay closed on Sundays.
These new operating hours were officially approved by the Kosciusko County Solid Waste Management District’s board during a Dec. 19 meeting. KCSWMD Executive Director Tom Ganser said Leslie Williams, the district’s education, outreach, and marketing coordinator, had been closely tracking the number of patrons the depot sees in order to determine the best hours of operation.
Ganser also told the board the sale of the former Syracuse recycling drop-off site to the Wawasee Community School Corporation should be finalized in January. The school corporation is purchasing the property for $5,100.
The board also approved having Brad Jackson and Bob Conley continue serving in their roles as the board’s president and vice-president, respectively, for 2024.
Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer, a KCSWMD board member, commended the board for their work over the years. This was Thallemer’s last board meeting as he is retiring from his position as mayor.
“This organization and the services provided…you (Tom) do a great job given all the demands there are and the challenges you’ve had,” said Thallemer.
The board’s next meeting is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16.
