James W. Carpenter, 83, Rochester, died at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023, at Life Care Center of Rochester.

He was born May 9, 1940. His wife of 49 years, Patsy Carpenter, survives.

He also is survived by his daughter, Penny Sowash, Peru; son, Larry Carpenter, Rochester; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Joan McClellan, Rochester, and Linda (Ron) Town, Mentone.
