Warsaw Area Artist’s Painting Chosen For Florida Exhibition

WARSAW — Local artist Steve Creighton’s oil painting, “Composition with Foley Vase,” has been juried into the 2024 14th Biennial National Art Exhibition at the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda, Fla.
The show is one of the nation’s most prestigious juried exhibitions hosted by the 1,000-member Visual Arts Center. Awards will total more than $10,000 for the show.
The exhibition will take place Feb. 16 through April 24, 2024, and is sponsored by the Mary Ellen Byrd Legacy for the Arts at the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda.
The exhibition was open nationally and internationally and hundreds of entries were received. Creighton’s painting was one of just 122 selected for the exhibition by juror Jean Pederson. Pederson, an artist specializing in painting people and using mixed media, is contributing editor for Artist’s Magazine and holds numerous national and international awards.
Creighton is a “Signature” member of National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society and Hoosier Salon and a member of Oil Painters of America. He said he loves the challenge of national and international competitions.
His studio is located in Warsaw. He majored in art and business at Valparaiso University as an undergraduate and continued his art education with graduate art courses at Indiana University. His passion is still life and landscape oil paintings. His works have been exhibited in art galleries from coast to coast, including most recently in Indiana, Texas, Maryland, Utah, South Carolina, Florida, Colorado, Wyoming and Virginia. He recently served as one of the jurors of selection for the 2023 NOAPS Spring On-Line International Exhibit.
