Elkhart County Corrections Officer Arrested For Alleged Sexual Misconduct With Inmate

ELKHART — A corrections officer in Elkhart County was recently arrested for allegedly engaging in sexual activity with a jail inmate.
Around 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, Elkhart County corrections staff notified their supervisor that a female inmate reported engaging in sexual activity with a male corrections officer on Jan. 3.
Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office detectives were called to the jail and immediately began an investigation into the allegations. During the investigation, detectives identified Corrections Officer Malachi Yoder, 26, as the employee alleged to be involved in this incident.
Based on collected evidence, Yoder was immediately terminated from employment and later incarcerated at the Elkhart County Jail for sexual misconduct with a service provider, a level 5 felony.
