WARSAW — Two months after Lake City Aviators told the Warsaw Board of Aviation Commissioners about its plans to offer a ground school at the airport, classes are taking off.
Warsaw Municipal Airport Manager Nick King provided the board with a news release from the Lake City Aviators to let the BOAC know they are going to be starting their first ground school class on Jan. 22. It will run through March 10, with classes from 6-8 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday at the airport terminal building.
The classes at the terminal are pending all the repairs to the building get completed in time, but King said there is a backup plan for the location.
“From what they are telling me, they’ve got five or six students already signed up for the class,” King said. “I believe the first class is going to be $200, but I don’t know if that price is just a first-time, trying to get people coming. We’ll learn that here moving forward, but they are very excited to get this class going. Their aircraft, I believe, is scheduled to be certified either this coming Monday or a week from Monday.”
BOAC President Jay Rigdon said, “Good for them. We want to do anything we can to help anybody like this be out there.”
