Whitko Honors Students Of The Month For January
News Release
LARWILL — The Whitko Community Schools system has named its Students of the Month for January.
Ryan Rose
Ryan Rose is Whitko Senior High’s Student of the Month.
Teach Dan Coil said Rose, a sophomore, is a great student.
“He always comes to class prepared,” Coil said, “asks questions to gain deeper understanding of lesson material, volunteers to read aloud in class and answer questions and accomplishes extra work to gain a better understanding of course material.”
Hannah Bingham
Hannah Bingham is the Student of the Month for Whitko Junior High.
Coil also nominated the seventh-grader. He said she is always prepared for class.
“She is active in class with volunteering to read aloud and answer questions and she assists the teacher with passing out lesson materials,” Coil said. “Hannah is a model student.”
Kavon Hurd
Kavon Hurd is Whitko Career Academy’s Student of the Month.
Alternative School instructor Don Stone and construction trades teacher Chris Neeley nominated Hurd, who is a junior.
In the nomination, they wrote: “Kavon came into this year (his junior year), behind on six of his core credits. He was recommended for the Alternative School, to catch up and also to continue in his Construction Trades Pathway. Having already earned his Construction Trades Pathway as a sophomore in Electrical, Kavon continues with his Framing and Finishing and General Carpentry courses in the Construction Trades Pathway.
“Kavon quickly made those six credits up during the first nine weeks of school and gained a sense of accomplishment, pride and motivation. Since then, Kavon has taken off. He has been motivated to utilize his time at home, on breaks and spare time to work on his school work. He recently completed all of his core credits for his junior year and senior year. I’m proud to say that Kavon completed his final senior core class (government) and has met all graduation requirements to be able to graduate with the 2024 cohort senior class. We are extremely proud of Kavon and wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”
Alainna Arnett
Alainna Arnett is the Student of the Month for South Whitley Elementary School.
She was chosen for the honor for many reasons, according to her third-grade teacher, Abigail Norman. “She always puts her best effort into assignments and classwork,” Norman said. “Alainna is kind and caring to others and is always helpful. Alainna was also chosen for always setting a great example for others. She always comes to school with a smile and is always ready to learn. Alainna is a great example of a South Whitley Bulldog.”
Zoie Bingley
Pierceton Elementary School’s Student of the Month is Zoie Bingley.
“It is a privilege to have Zoie in class,” said her third-grade teacher, Laura Cassidy. “She is kind and always comes in with a smile. Her mission is to find ways to help others and see the good in them. As she goes throughout each day, she approaches each task with a growth mind-set and strives to do her very best. She demonstrates our Cub Care Guidelines each day, which promotes a climate and culture of teamwork and putting others first. She makes each day better for everyone.”
Navy Arnold
Navy Arnold is the Student of the Month for the Whitko Early Learning Center.
Navy was nominated by Sieara Arnett, who said, “Navy is such a sweet girl. She has been a joy to watch grow and develop. Navy has grown so much in wanting to play with toys and others. She loves food, to say the least, and works it off with the happiness of moving around to get her toys and laughing with us. She likes one-on-one time with staff and has grown to like playing with others her size as well.”
