WINONA LAKE — Obadiah Clemans bought Three Crowns Coffee, 941 N. Detroit St., Warsaw, in 2022 from the previous owner.
Thursday, Jan. 11, he and his wife, Sarah, had a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce for their second Three Crowns Coffee shop inside the Winona Live building at 25 Kings Hwy., Winona Lake.
Clemans said he decided to open the Winona Lake location “primarily” because of the traffic.
“The railroad and traffic over there (on Detroit) really makes it inconvenient for anyone on this side of town to go over to the Detroit Street location. And I felt, when I saw this opportunity, it looked like a great chance to get Three Crowns to the people over here,” he said.
For now, the two coffee shops are it.
“I’ve considered opening more, but we’ll see. For the foreseeable future, we’re just going to stabilize and enjoy for now. Makes sure this works. But it’s been exciting,” Clemans said.
At the Kings Highway coffee shop, they offer their coffee and drink menu, but do not do sodas. They also offer paninis as food.
“And then, of course, we have all of Bread & Basil, all of their pastries, are here,” he said.
At the Detroit Street shop, there’s the coffee and soda menus and they do Ramen.
“We have two different places, very different stuff going on. Same coffee, different food,” Clemans said.
The coffee is roasted at the Detroit Street shop.
Hours for the Winona Lake business are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. He said he’s working on getting the staffing so hours can be expanded to 5 p.m. during the week, but isn’t quite there yet.
The Warsaw business hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
