Elkhart Purdue Extension Offering Grill Masters Course For Youth

WARSAW — Purdue Extension Elkhart County is offering a Grill Masters program for youth in grades seven through12 this coming spring. Youth will get to learn about food safety, using different outdoor cooking appliances, food preparation and menu planning.
Session times and dates are from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14, Thursday, March 28, and Thursday April 11. The barbecue contest will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 20. All sessions will be hosted at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds.
There will be three hands-on lessons where youth will get to use cooking equipment, learn about safety and food preparation. The series will end with a barbecue contest where youth will work in teams to create a barbecue meal for judges to sample. The cost for the program is $25 if youth are currently enrolled in 4-H and $40 for non-4-H members.
