Silver Lake
Officers with the Silver Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 10:22 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, SR 15, north of CR 900S, Silver Lake. Driver: Gage C. Newsome, 25, West Howard Street, Muncie. Newsome reported a vehicle in front of him slowed down abruptly, causing him to swerve to the right and go off the road. His vehicle struck a fence, state highway cement marker and a fiber optic marker. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 1:40 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, East US 30, near Old US 30 East, Warsaw. Drivers: Ricky D. Craft, 62, East Van Ness Road, Pierceton; and Debra S. King, 61, South CR 750E, Pierceton. Craft’s vehicle rear-ended King’s. Craft sustained a cut to the bridge of his nose and to his right hand. King complained of back pain and sought treatment on her own at a local hospital. A passenger in King’s vehicle, Priya King, 12, Pierceton, sustained a bloody nose and lip and complained of leg pain. A second passenger in King’s vehicle, Lazarus King, 5, Pierceton, had leg pain and had to be extricated from the vehicle. Priya and Lazarus were taken to a local hospital. Damage up to $25,000.
- 11:04 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, Frontage Road, east of Eastlake Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Blaze A. Cotterman, 31, East CR 350N, Warsaw; and Heather N. Coy, 33, North CR 700E, Leesburg. Cotterman was attempting to exit a parking lot and travel onto Frontage Road when he entered Coy’s path of travel. Damage up to $10,000.
- 3:47 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, Anchorage Road, east of Sunset Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Aaron J. Munson Jr., 23, East CR 100S, Pierceton; Jazlynne D. Owens, 16, EMS C31 Lane, Warsaw; and Gary T. Hamman, 71, West Wildwood Trail, Warsaw. Munson’s vehicle rear-ended Owens’. This resulted in Owens’ vehicle rear-ending Hamman’s. Owens complained of minor chest pain but declined medical attention. Damage up to $25,000.
- 7:47 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, SR 15, near Indiana Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Nicholas J. Prater, 36, Boydston Street, Warsaw; and Jaslene Juarez, 16, South Cleveland Street, Warsaw. Prater was attempting to turn north onto Indiana Street when he hit Juarez’s vehicle. Two passengers in Juarez’s vehicle, Jiselle Juarez, 16, Warsaw; and Athziry Juarez, 15, Warsaw, both complained of head pain. The Juarezes were treated by medics at the scene. Damage up to $5,000.
- 7:40 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, West CR 350N, east of North SR 15, Warsaw. Driver: Ashley D. Brandyberry, 38, Hawthorn Drive, Warsaw. Brandyberry’s vehicle left the roadway and hit a Nipsco utility pole. Brandyberry complained of neck, back, and shoulder pain. She said she would seek medical attention on her own. Damage up to $10,000.
- 7:10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, US 30, near North Parker Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Destiny M. Spry, 19, West Old Road 30 Lot 10W, Warsaw; and Corey A. Bontrager, 22, Harwood Drive, Goshen. Spry’s vehicle rear-ended Bontrager’s. Damage up to $2,500.
- 11:20 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, SR 25, near Ferguson Road, Warsaw. Driver: Jared D. Gable, 26, North CR 300W, North Manchester. Gable’s vehicle left the roadway and rolled onto its passenger side. Gable was later arrested for allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Damage up to $25,000.
- 2:26 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, North Parker Street, near US 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Charles G. Fletcher Sr., 85, North Pearl Street, Etna Green; and Johnna M. Jones, 47, Ireland Drive, Warsaw. Fletcher hit Jones’ vehicle while Jones had a green arrow to turn onto North Parker Street. Damage up to $2,500.
- 1:12 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1170 Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Drivers: Dina Coverstone, 43, Galloway Cove, Fort Wayne; and Stacey Sherman, 37, Chapman Lake Drive, Warsaw. Coverstone was backing her vehicle when she hit Sherman’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
- 1:03 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2920 Frontage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Celeste Smith, 16, South CR 250E, Warsaw; and Kristin D. Bowland, 42, Galloway Cove, Fort Wayne. Smith was backing her vehicle from a parking space when she hit Bowland’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Fulton County
Officers with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 7:12 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, US 31 and South Wabash Road, Rochester. Driver: Latoya Themuka, no other information available. Themuka’s vehicle was ran off the road by a semitractor/trailer. The vehicle went approximately 30 feet down into a ditch. The semitractor driver stopped the vehicle up the road and then left the scene while Themuka was on the phone.
- 4:08 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, CR 500E, Rochester. Driver: Bradley M. Deskins, 26, Rochester. Deskins’ car hit a tree.
- 6:39 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, SR 17, south of SR 114, Fulton. Driver: Patrick B. Rentschler, 45, Kewanna. Hit deer.
- 5:46 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, CR 700W, north of CR 300N, Rochester. Driver: Bryce N. Calvert, 19, Rochester. Calvert’s vehicle slid off the road and hit a wooden post.
- 7:24 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, CR 800E and CR 250S, Akron. Driver: Trake D. Gibson, 16, Akron. Gibson’s vehicle hit an REMC pole.
- 5:57 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, CR 450N, just off US 31, Mexico. Driver: Steven C. Gilliland, 47, Rochester. Hit deer.
- 10:01 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, SR 15 and East Division Road, Akron. Driver: Shawn D. Elder, 30, Akron. Elder’s vehicle hit a pole. The crash was determined to be in Kosciusko County, but Fulton County completed the report.
- 9:47 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, West SR 14 and North SR 17, Kewanna. Driver: Melissa A. Vanness, 51, Star City. Vanness’ vehicle slid off the road into a ditch.
- 5:41 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, Olson Road, between CR 500N and CR 750W, Leiters Ford. Driver: Gregory Sefchek, 71, Culver. Police were notified of a vehicle into a tree. No one was found in the vehicle and it was covered in snow with the airbags deployed. There were foot prints walking away from the vehicle. Marshall County or Culver Police were asked to contact the owner. It was later discovered Sefchek, the vehicle’s owner, was the driver.
