Area Police Reports
Fulton County
Officers with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following incidents:
- 4:02 a.m., Monday Jan. 22, 7000 block East CR 550N, Rochester. A man reported he had received a threat of his house being burnt down.
- 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 1200 block Wabash Avenue, Rochester. A caller notified police he drove by a residence and the door is wide open and the dogs are running around. He attempted to make contact and it does not appear any one is home. An officer went to the location and could not get any one to come to the door and he could hear a dog inside the house. He was ale to get one of the dogs in the house, but one was still loose. He reported the door won’t latch so if one of the dogs pushes on it, it will open.
- 4:27 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 1800 block CR 875E, Akron. A resident called to report his neighbor’s barn is on fire. No one is in the barn.
- 2:46 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 100 block Northgate Circle, Rochester. Police were notified that a neighbor broke the headlight out of a vehicle and there was a child in that vehicle.
- 9:26 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 21. 14000 block CR 400S, Akron. A homeowner reported somebody drove through his fence last night. He is requesting a report.
- 7:28 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, SR 25 and CR 600S, Rochester. An officer reported multiple bean bag chairs in the roadway and observed a few vehicles hit them. The officer removed the beanbags from the roadway.
- 5:14 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2000 block Peace Tree Village. A vendor notified police he went to a store and they are denying him his payment of past due invoices. The vendor was advised it is a civil matter.
- 3:29 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 100 block Third Street, Rochester. A man notified police his parents are trying to keep his children from him. He reported he has custody of his children and has the paperwork. Police went to the home and learned the grandparents have been taking care of the children for the past four years due to the father being homeless and the mother being incarcerated. The father has been staying with his parents recently and got into an argument with them. He wanted to leave the residence with the children and does have custody. The grandparents were advised they could not stop the father from leaving with the children. Both parties came to an agreement and the father took one of the children to a friends house in North Liberty for the night and will return the child tomorrow. The grandparents were advised to get DCS involved to get a CHINS case started to place the child with them.
- 2:52 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 7500 block Liberty Avenue, Fulton. A man came to the sheriff’s office to speak with an offer regarding theft.
Goshen
Officers with the Goshen Police Department investigated the following incident:
- 12:06 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 100 block West Jefferson Street, Goshen. A woman from Ligonier, reported a battery that occurred. She sustained minor injuries to the face and head but refused medical treatment. The battery was caused by an unknown individual.
