NORTH WEBSTER — During the first meeting of 2024 of the Tippecanoe Township Fire Territory Board, it was announced that two new employees have been added to the department’s first responder roster.
Cory Troyer has been added as a firefighter/medic, while Tanner Moore will serve as a firefighter and EMT. With the additions of Troyer and Moore, the fire territory is now fully staffed.
Assistant Fire Chief Dave Rensberger informed the board Tuesday, Jan. 23, the fire territory responded to 67 EMS calls, 13 fire calls and made three runs into Noble County during the month of December. The total number of runs in 2024 was 920.
Rensberger also provided updates on the department’s two ambulances. One, Medic 79, the older of the two units, is currently out of service. The department is attempting to locate the computer part necessary to fix the ambulance. He also noted that a new chassis has been ordered to replace the one currently on Medic 78. It will not be available until July or August, and it will be at least December until it can be installed on the ambulance box.
Township Trustee Chris Francis noted that he is continually looking for used or demonstrator ambulances that might be suitable for the fire territory to purchase, as it is imperative it always has at least two ambulances that can respond to calls.
Rensberger also provided a written copy of the fire territory’s annual report to the board for their review.
Board members will bring any questions to the next meeting and present them to Fire Chief Jeremy Likens.
