Grace Outdoors Hosts Winter Nighttime Hike In Winona Lake
News Release
WINONA LAKE — Grace Outdoors, Grace College’s outdoor club, is partnering with Boundless, a recreational recovery community, to host the 10th annual “Hiking, Hot Chocolate and Headlamps” from 6:30-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3.
The free event, which is open to the public, is being sponsored by Kosciusko Cares Youth Services and will begin at the Gordon Health and Wellness Center, 100 Publishers Drive, Winona Lake.
“Join us for a thrilling nighttime hiking experience around Winona Lake that promises laughter, excitement and great memories,” said Matt Metzger, director of Grace Outdoors. “As the sun sets, the trails come alive with a sense of mystery and wonder. Whether you’re a seasoned night hiker or a first-timer, there’s something magical about exploring Winona Lake after dark.”
After the hike is complete, the group will enjoy hot chocolate and snacks as they share stories by the warmth of a campfire.
The event is free, but donations will be collected for a family in the community affected by tragedy. Those who give a donation of any size will be entered to win a number of prizes, including a grand prize of $500. The money collected from donations will be presented to the family at the end of the hike.
“While it’s always fun to be active and connect with the community, the gift given at the end of the night is the most impactful part every year,” said Shelly Metzger, founder of Boundless. “It’s amazing what can happen when a community rallies together in the spirit of generosity.”
