Democrat Enters Race For Indiana 2nd Congressional District Seat
News Release
SOUTH BEND — Lori Camp has thrown her hat into the ring for the Democratic nomination for Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District seat.
Camp is a lifelong South Bend resident who currently is the operations/training manager and vendor compliance coordinator for Donnell Systems, a small software company in South Bend.
She is a 1985 graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School in South Bend and earned a degree in criminal justice from Indiana University South Bend.
In a news release announcing her candidacy, Camp’s campaign said she is running for Congress “to instill our good Hoosier values of honesty and integrity to the floor of the House of Representatives.”
“Lori firmly believes that health care, especially reproductive health care, is a freedom that must be restored and protected at the national level,” the news release stated. “In addition, Lori will work in a bipartisan way to bring security and compassionate immigration reform to our southern border. Lori knows your freedom and security are your fundamental rights, and she will not play politics with your body and/or your safety.”
Camp has served on the South Bend Community Schools Magnet School Task Force. For the past six years, she has volunteered her time as a dive and gymnastics coach for South Bend Adams and Mishawaka high schools.
“As a small business professional, Lori will continue working for Main Street, not Wall Street,” the news release said. “Lori Camp is your next-door neighbor. Every single vote she casts will be for you. Her heart and soul is in the union-backed middle class neighborhoods of north central Indiana. She will represent you, not the billionaires.”
Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District covers a block of north-central Indiana from the state line to north of Kokomo, including Warsaw and other parts of Kosciusko County, Rochester, Plymouth and Wabash.
Indiana’s primary election is Tuesday, May 7.
