Elkhart Civic Announces Summer Theater Camps
News Release
BRISTOL — Elkhart Civic Theatre will be holding its 2024 ECT Theatre Camps, where students ages 8-18 have the opportunity to develop their skills in a fun summer setting.
The camps offer two tracks, one for younger students and one for middle- and high-school students. Both camps run from June 10 – 21, weekday mornings, with performances on Friday, June 21, and Saturday, June 22.
“Musical Theatre Fast Track” for ages 12-18 is directed by Mary Norwood. Older students will experience putting on a full-fledged musical in just two weeks. They’ll be challenged to learn lines, songs, choreography, blocking and how to work together as a team. Many students have returned to participate for several years. “Musical Theatre Fast Track” is limited to 50 students.
The 2024 musical production is “Cyrano de Burger Shack,” modern-day comedy version of Edmond Rostand’s play, “Cyrano de Bergerac.”
“Storytellers’ Theatre” for ages 8-11 is directed by Annette Kaczanowski. Designed for our younger actors, this camp will help them develop vocal projection, stage presence, characterization and self-confidence. Kids will learn how to work together to create something special. At the end of camp, the group will showcase what they’ve learned by performing a variety of short plays at the 2024 camp performances. “Storytellers’ Theatre” camp is limited to 15 students.
Camp performances will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, June 21, and Saturday, June 22, at the Bristol Opera House.
Elkhart Civic Theatre summer camps are part of the Michael Cripe Studio, which is supported by generous underwriting from Jeff Cripe and Label Logic Inc.
Both camps fill up fast, so parents are urged to register students early. The enrollment form and further information are available at elkhartcivictheatre.org/camp24.
