Fernandez Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Cellphone

WARSAW — A Warsaw woman was recently arrested for allegedly stealing a cellphone.
Amanda Fernandez, 37, 1082 Greene Drive, Warsaw, is charged with theft, a level 6 felony.
On Jan. 12, a Warsaw Police officer investigated the theft of a cellphone at Walmart. A store employee said she placed her cellphone on a shelf while she straightened up shelves.
According to court documents, when the employee went to retrieve her cellphone, she couldn’t find it. Surveillance footage from the store showed the employee setting her cellphone down. Shortly after this, a woman, later identified as Fernandez, grabbed the cellphone and placed it in the front pocket of her sweatshirt. The phone was valued at over $750.
Fernandez was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 28, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
