WARSAW — The Kosciusko County Election Board will be holding a special meeting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, to discuss a complaint filed against Kosciusko County Coroner Tyler Huffer for fraudulent campaign advertising in his bid to seek the Republican nomination in May.
The meeting will be held in the office of Ann Torpy, at which time the board will discuss the complaint and make a determination if Huffer needs to make changes to his campaign materials.
The complaint was filed Monday, March 4, by Julia Goon. She notes the fraudulent advertising relates to his campaign advertising stating re-elect Tyler Huffer for county coroner. Goon contends Huffer was not elected by the people of Kosciusko County, but “elected by a caucus, therefore, he was appointed to finish the term of the County Coroner Tony Ciriello, who was elected by the people of Kosciusko County.”
The complaint states that Goon feels “he is being unethical in his campaign signage. He is misleading the voters of Kosciusko County.”
Goon notes she was appointed, not elected to finish the term of Prairie Township Trustee to fulfill the last two years of the term for June Thomas in January 1981 and she understands the difference.
According to the notice Huffer has received the notice of the meeting in writing and a copy of the complaint. He has been invited to provide a response.
