North Webster Community Public Library — Solar Eclipse Programming Happening at NWCPL
News Release
NORTH WEBSTER — Did you know that insects and animals act differently during a solar eclipse? During a solar eclipse, daylight decreases, resulting in fascinating behavior in the animal and insect worlds. If this phenomenon interests you, consider helping scientists around the world collect data about animal activities during solar eclipses.
The North Webster Community Public Library is offering a special training opportunity for interested individuals to become a certified Eclipse Soundscape apprentice and observer. During this free training, Eclipse Soundscape apprentices of all ages will learn how they can use their five senses to observe animal and insect patterns at the time of the solar eclipse. Participants can also learn how to submit their data the day of the eclipse to have their findings added to those of other researchers throughout the world. Mark your calendars for the first training session, which will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16.
NWCPL will also be hosting many other eclipse events over the next few weeks to help the community prepare for the upcoming solar eclipse April 8. North Webster will be very close to the totality, and there will be excellent viewing opportunities all over Indiana. Visit the library’s website or call the library at (574) 834-7122 for more information about all eclipse programming.
