Smoroske Arrested For Illegally Possessing Firearms, Drugs

WARSAW — A Claypool man was recently arrested for illegally possessing firearms and drugs.
Eric Ray Smoroske, 56, 9895 S. Heron Road, Claypool, is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a level 4 felony; possession of methamphetamine and possession of a narcotic drug, both level 6 felonies; and possession of methamphetamine with enhancing circumstances and possession of a narcotic drug with enhancing circumstances, both level 5 felonies.
On March 23, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office detective spoke with a woman who said Smoroske took pictures of her personal identifying documents.
According to court documents, the woman said Smoroske also owned firearms. A no-contact order served to Smoroske on Feb. 16 stated that he was not allowed to have firearms or ammunition in his possession.
Law enforcement went to serve a search warrant at Smoroske’s home on March 26. Upon searching the home, officers found five firearms, meth, and fentanyl.
Smoroske is classified as a serious violent felon, having been convicted of dealing meth in Kosciusko County in March 2015.
Smoroske was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on March 26.
