Two Men Arrested On Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

WARSAW — Two men were arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop.
Gary Gene Gregory, 61, 58211 Meadow Lark Drive, Elkhart, is charged with dealing methamphetamine, a level 2 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a level 3 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
Joshua Brant Hawthorne, 44, 920 Anchorage Road Lot 97, Warsaw, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; driving while suspended, possession of marijuana with a prior conviction, and sentence enhancement possession of paraphernalia, all class A misdemeanors; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On March 1, a Warsaw Police officer noticed a speeding vehicle and identified its driver as Hawthorne, whose driver’s status was suspended. Gregory was identified as a passenger in the vehicle.
According to court documents, upon searching the vehicle, the officer found drug paraphernalia, meth, and marijuana. Gregory said Hawthorne gave him meth, which he had on his person. Officers removed three bags containing a total of 147.3 grams of meth from Gregory’s person.
Hawthorne has prior convictions for robbery, meth possession, and paraphernalia possession.
Gregory has prior convictions for marijuana possession and meth possession.
Gregory and Hawthorne have both already been arrested and released on bond. They have initial hearings at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, April 4, in Kosciusko Circuit Court.
