Staff Report
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested for allegedly stealing over $2,000 worth of lottery tickets from a local business.
Kentavis Bobby Sommers, 24, 321 S. High St., Warsaw, is charged with theft, a level 6 felony.
On March 30, 2023, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a Marathon Gas Station location regarding a theft report. An employee said Sommers, who was employed at the business at the time, had been stealing lottery tickets.
According to court documents, surveillance footage showed Sommers removing lottery tickets from where they were sold while no customers were in the store.
On March 31, 2023, the store’s manager provided documentation showing that $2,020 worth of lottery tickets were taken by Sommers over a three-day period.
In an interview with police on April 1, 2023, Sommers admitted to stealing lottery tickets from the business on multiple occasions. When asked why the store’s cash drawer was routinely short, Sommers said he stole about $200 to $300 in cash as well.
Sommers was previously convicted of theft in Marshall County in November 2022.
Sommers was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on April 8, 2024, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
