Karen Brock Selected As New Principal At Syracuse Elementary

SYRACUSE — Wawasee Community School Corporation announces the appointment of Karen Brock, pending board approval, as the next principal of Syracuse Elementary School.
Bringing a wealth of experience and a profound commitment to excellence in education, Brock is set to lead the school into a new era of academic achievement and community engagement.
Most recently serving as the principal at Waterford Elementary School, Brock has demonstrated a robust leadership style characterized by a deep understanding of instructional strategies and community building. Under her guidance, Waterford saw significant advances in student performance and teacher collaboration, driven by a data-informed approach to educational leadership.
Brock holds a masters degree from Ball State University and believes, “in centering students in all decisions, ensuring that they are equipped with the knowledge, thinking skills, and character traits to make a positive impact on the world.” This aligns seamlessly with the mission of the Wawasee Community School Corp, which focuses on empowering students to reach their highest potential.
Brock emerged as the top candidate during a round robin style interview process that involved 30 members of the school community. Stakeholders included parents, teachers, building principals, and district leaders.
“We consider this a great blessing and another step towards Wawasee achieving great successes.” stated Dr. Steve Troyer, superintendent of WCSC.
As principal of Syracuse Elementary, Brock is eager to implement a long-range plan that addresses the comprehensive needs of all students and staff. She looks forward to being the leader of instruction, community and culture for students, family and community.
