Perkins Arrested For Strangulation, Domestic Battery

WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested after allegedly battering and threatening a man.
Austin Lee Perkins, 39, 2886 S. Woodland Trail, Warsaw, is charged with strangulation, domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, and intimidation, all level 6 felonies; and resisting law enforcement and domestic battery, both class A misdemeanors.
On May 9, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputies and a Winona Lake Police officer responded to a report of an intoxicated person who was being aggressive. A man said the person, later identified as Perkins, shoved him and threatened to kill him.
According to court documents, the man said Perkins pushed him several times, hit the side of his head, and choked him until he almost blacked out. Officers noticed redness around the man’s throat and on top of his head, as well as cuts and scrapes on his knees.
When officers attempted to speak with him, Perkins allegedly yelled at the officers and told them to leave. Perkins also forcefully pushed the officers around while being taken into custody.
A woman who witnessed the incident said Perkins started the fight.
Perkins tested 0.08% BrAC on a portable breath test.
Perkins has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance.
