Janice M. Gerardot
Janice M. Gerardot, 86, of rural Claypool, died at 8:19 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester.
She was born on Aug. 14, 1937, in Kosciusko County, to Talman Gerald and Thelma Eilene (Secrist) DeLaughter.
Janice graduated from Sidney High School in 1955. She was a homemaker, retired from DePuy in Warsaw, and also worked at Trick Supply in North Manchester. She belonged to the St. Roberts Bellarmine Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge, both of North Manchester. She was a longtime member of Parents Without Partners, and her life revolved around her family. She loved her grandchildren and supporting them by attending their activities. Along with spending time with her family and friends, Janice enjoyed dancing, traveling, bowling, and flower gardening. She baked and decorated cakes for more than 40 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicky (Jim) Thompson, of Goshen, Annette Meggison, of Liberty Mills, Deanne Gerardot, of Fort Wayne, Sandye Parks, of Columbia City, and Angie (Rick) Hendrickson, of Claypool; 11 grandchildren, Nathaniel (Dianna) Thompson, Anthony (Amy) Gerardot, Brandon (Angie) Whitcraft, Collin Meggison, Natalee Ridenour, Matthew (Brandi) Ridenour, Kaylee Parks, Rick Hendrickson Jr., Rachel Hendrickson, Amanda (Mike) Galley, and Michelle (Mike) Campbell; 25 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Talman (Kelly) DeLaughter, of Bettendorf, Iowa, and sister, Connie (Joe) Gottschalk, of Columbia City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Talman and Thelma (Secrist) DeLaughter; brother, Darwin DeLaughter, and sisters, Darlene Maroney, Carolyn Maroney, and Barbara Slater.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, May 31, 2024 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester, with Pastor Charlie Trout and Kim Slater officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, May 30, at the funeral home. There will be an additional hour of calling prior to the service on Friday.
Preferred memorial is Parkview Hospice.
