Janice M. Ryman — UPDATED
Janice M. Ryman, age 80, of Milford, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. She was born to Clinton “Bud” and Lois (Simon) Gilbert on Aug. 1, 1943, in Warsaw. She graduated from Syracuse High School in 1962 and spent much of her lifetime in the Syracuse and Milford area. She married Larry Ryman on Sept 15, 1962.
She previously worked at Essex Wire and Milford Elementary School, where she worked as a school cook. She was known to many as “Grandma” as she also babysat many in the community.
Janice had a passion for crafting and participated in many craft shows showcasing her designs. She also had a love of sewing, quilting and bowling, which brought joy to those around her. Janice will be remembered for her selfless personality and the kindness she showed to everyone she met. She never knew a stranger.
Janice is survived by her loving family members and friends who will cherish her memory forever. She is survived by her husband, Larry Ryman, of Milford; children, Tammy Stewart, of Milford, Tracy (Shelly) Ryman, of Rome City, and Terry (Lori) Ryman, of South Bend; along with 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren; her parents; and a sister, Sharon Gilbert.
Janice’s Life Celebration will be held at Titus Funeral Home of Syracuse at 1001 S. Huntington St. A visitation will take place from 4-8 p.m. Monday, June 3. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. with Pastor Mike Kelly and Pastor Gilbert Reed officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Milford.
