ROCHESTER — A Rochester man was arrested on several drug charges after officers received information about him manufacturing methamphetamine.

Steven Lee Wright, 48, 413 E. 14th St., Rochester, is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and dealing methamphetamine, both level 4 felonies; and neglect of a dependent and possession of methamphetamine, both level 5 felonies.

In April, a Fulton County Sheriff’s Office deputy spoke with an individual regarding Wright manufacturing meth. The individual said Wright would purchase or have other people purchase pseudoephedrine from local pharmacies in exchange for meth.

A Rochester detective said he was made aware by a pharmacist in September 2023 about Wright bringing people into a local pharmacy to purchase pseudoephedrine.

According to court documents, an investigation showed Wright was involved in 12 pseudoephedrine purchases in 2024.

Law enforcement conducted a controlled buy with Wright on May 31. Officers were also made aware of a child at the property where Wright was manufacturing meth. Wright dealt 0.6 grams of meth during the controlled buy.

When the buy was being completed, Columbia Elementary School was open for breakfast and lunch to students who wished to attend. The property where Wright was dealing meth from is in close proximity to the school.

Officers received a search warrant for Wright’s property on June 3. Upon searching the property, officers found items used to manufacture meth inside a shed. Officers also found meth on Wright’s person.

In an interview with police, Wright said he had manufactured meth for several years inside the shed. He said he only dealt meth one or two times.

Wright was booked in the Fulton County Jail on June 3.
