MILFORD — Food Truck Friday made its long awaited return to Milford to kickoff summer in the town. A total of 18 food trucks made the journey for the opener on Friday, June 21.

Sierra Clark is president of Meet Milford, the event host with the mission to promote the area during Food Truck Friday.

“For year three we are keeping it the same,” Clark said, “The only difference is we are focusing more on getting our local organizations involved. Live Well Kosciusko is here. We have the school corporation here, showing what they have planned for the new Milford school.”

The record number of food trucks to take part in the festivities is 21 but Clark thinks they can break the record next month.

The 2024 opener featured a one-mile fun run with proceeds being donated to the Milford Food Bank. Aidan Burks won the race in the men’s division and Yvette Rojas took first in the women’s division.

It was the first time the run took place at a Food Truck Friday event and the race pulled in over 20 runners.

There was also entertainment in the main parking lot featuring MOVEWawasee and North Webster Lions Karate. A jiu-jitsu demonstration was canceled due to the high temperatures.

Other activities included face painting, a sidewalk chalk course and a bicycle giveaway.

Clark and the Meet Milford team say they like the direction Food Truck Fridays are going and are optimistic the biggest attendance for the 2024 season is yet to come.

“We are hoping to have our best turnout yet and bring our community together,” Clark said. “I think this helps us to get to know our neighbors better and know that we have support in our local communities. It helps us educate on local organizations that maybe people don’t know about.”
