Kay Ousley — UPDATED
Geneva Kay Ousley, of Milford, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the age of 66. Known to most as Kay, she was born on Jan. 19, 1958, in Jacksonville, Fla., the daughter of Frank and Sarah Kelley (Hefflin).
On Oct. 13, 1978, Kay married Timothy Collins. The two spent 15 years together raising their two children, Samantha and Christopher. Although the two went their separate ways, Kay and Tim remained friends throughout the years.
Throughout her life, Kay embodied kindness and generosity. Her career path included working at North Webster Daycare in the late ’80s/early ’90s and later at New Beginnings Preschool and Childcare in Milford. Children were naturally drawn to her warm and welcoming personality as she treated everyone she met like family. Kay’s love for people extended beyond the classroom as she spent time volunteering at local pantries, shelters and churches. She found joy in spending time with her family — especially shopping with her granddaughter and watching horror movies with her grandson. Kay also had a creative side, enjoying painting and coloring in coloring books.
Among all her achievements, Kay held her family closest to her heart. She is survived by her children, Christopher Collins and Samantha (Jeremy) Olson; grandchildren, Kiaundra (Gavin Hunziker) Olson and Cameron Collins; brothers, Frank (Gabrielle) Kelley Jr., Michael (Nichole) Kelley and Patrick Kelley; half-brother, Bruce Pendry; special niece, Ashley (Korey) Kendall; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in passing by her parents; and sister, Rebekah Brown.
Titus Funeral Home of Syracuse is entrusted with the care of Kay and her family. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, from 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 12, with the memorial service beginning at 7. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family can be made to help cover funeral expenses.
