ANSWER: DR. DAVID HOFFERT 

Dr. David Hoffert has served as Warsaw Community Schools’ superintendent for 10 years.

Hoffert is a fourth-generation Warsaw Tiger, beginning with his great-grandfather’s arrival in 1901 after serving in the Spanish-American War. His grandmother, grandfather, mother and father are all graduates. His sons, Ryun, Robinson and Roosevelt are continuing this legacy at WCS,

Hoffert attended WCHS where he placed 4th at the state track meet (4×800 relay) and was selected to the Indiana All-Star team. He graduated from WCHS in 1998. He earned a PhD from Indiana State University.

Hoffert returned as a history teacher and boys’ track coach (2002-2009). He spent summers traveling the country with grants through the National Endowment for Humanities, University of Hawaii East-West Center and Lilly Foundation to collect stories of WWII Pearl Harbor survivors.

He still enjoys running and has completed 25 marathons, including seven Boston Marathons.
