Phillip C. Brown — UPDATED
Phillip Brown, 82 of Warsaw, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024, in his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born on Aug. 1, 1941, to the late Carl and Evelyn (Killian) Brown, in Columbia City.
He graduated from Holmes Liberty High School in Bucyrus, Ohio.
In 1962, he entered the United States Army. He was a medical technician receiving his training at the “USAMEDS” Medical General Hospital for 40 weeks. He was honorably discharged in 1968, obtaining the rank of staff sergeant. He also served three years overseas.
He was united in marriage to Deborah Smith on May 11, 1972, in Warsaw.
After his military service, Phillip then went on to nursing school in Tacoma, Wash., obtaining his degree as a licensed practical nurse. He also attended Purdue University in Fort Wayne. Phillip decided to start his own business in auto upholstery, Browns Auto Trim, where he ran his company for 47 years for and worked for Zimmer Inc. Phillip worked for Miller’s Merry Manor for 35 years and in his slower periods, worked part time as a nurse at Grace Village Retirement Home, the Elkhart County Jail and Murphy’s Medical Center in the emergency room.
Phillip enjoyed going fishing with his son and taking trips to Canada. He was a good pool player.
Surviving are his children: Kevin (Cindy) Brown, of Leesburg, Katrina Platt, of Warsaw, Korey (Ashley Garber) Brown, of Warsaw, Phillip (Donna Rice) Brown, of Warsaw; his siblings, Cheryl (Chuck) Burkholder, of Florida, Wanda Sitts, of Kimmell, and Stephan (Rosemary) Brown, Columbia City; grandchildren, Kimberly Moyer, Tosha Johnson, Daniel Moyer, Nichole Moyer, Justin Brown, Josh Brown, Jade Frush, Jasamine Brown, Sophie Brown, Phillips Brown, Ashley Brown and Tifffany Brown; as well as four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Audrey Casual.
Per his request, all services will be private.
