CLAYPOOL — A North Manchester teenager was flown from a single-vehicle accident north of Claypool early Saturday morning.

At 1:43 a.m. Saturday, July 6, emergency personnel responded to a single-vehicle accident on South SR 15, at the intersection of West CR 550S, Claypool.

According to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office accident report, Diego A. Munoz, 18, North Manchester, was driving a red 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer south on South SR 15 when he negotiated a curve incorrectly. This caused Munoz’s vehicle to leave the roadway, entering a ditch and overturning multiple times before coming to a rest on its wheels.

Emergency personnel were notified of the accident through an iPhone automatic crash alert. Munoz sustained a head injury and told officers he didn’t know what happened and was unable to describe how the accident occurred.

Munoz was flown to Lutheran Hospital Fort Wayne to receive treatment for his injuries.

Damages are estimated up to $50,000.
