On Jan. 31, an Indiana State Police trooper noticed a speeding vehicle south of North Webster and pulled the vehicle over. The vehicle’s driver, later identified as Shepherd, provided the trooper with a false name.
According to court documents, Shepherd admitted to lying about his identity because he thought there was a warrant for his arrest. Upon searching Shepherd’s vehicle, the trooper found a bag containing 0.5 grams of meth under the vehicle’s driver’s seat.
On March 16, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a burglary at a residence on Old SR 15. A woman said her deceased mother’s residence had been ransacked. The mother passed away in December 2023.
Law enforcement noticed a glass pane was missing from the residence’s garage window and also discovered pry marks on the door between the house and garage. Several items were also stolen from the property.
Shepherd admitted to breaking into the home two times and stealing a Ford Focus from the property.
