WARSAW — Rhonda Helser has submitted her resignation as Kosciusko County Auditor.
The resignation is effective Aug. 31. Helser said her resignation is due to personal reasons.
Helser was elected as auditor in 2022, officially taking office in January 2023. Prior to that, Helser served as the county’s treasurer. She’s worked for the county for about 20 years.
“I decided it’s time to do something different,” said Helser. “I came into the office with big shoes to fill. Those in the office have been awesome and great to work with, and I’ve had no regrets being the auditor.”
A caucus to fill the vacancy will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, in the Old Courtroom at the Kosciusko County Courthouse in Warsaw. Eligible members of the caucus, by statutory definition, are the Republican Precinct committee members who have served continuously from 30 days before the commencement of the caucus.
The Kosciusko County Auditor will be elected by secret ballot of the majority of the voting caucus members to fill the office vacancy. Candidates must reside in Kosciusko County and be a Republican in good standing.
Declarations of candidacy are available at the office of the Kosciusko County Clerk, 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw. These declarations must be filed with Kosciusko County Republican Central Committee Chairman Mike Ragan no later than 72 hours before the commencement of the caucus. Ragan can be contacted at (574) 265-1430.
Eligible candidates will be allowed a maximum of three minutes to address the voting caucus.
